SUNY Cortland uses Microsoft Exchange for email

All users have a personal email box, and many departments and groups have a shared email inbox.

All emails originating outside of the cortland.edu domain are tagged with a message warning the recipient that they should be cautious of clicking links and downloading attachments.

Attachments and links are scanned for known security risks using Microsoft Advanced Threat Protection

If you suspect you have received a phishing email, please forward the email to phishing@cortland.edu

Some SUNY Cortland services use cloud systems which are not physically located on campus. In some cases it may be appropriate for these systems to be exempted from the "External" tagging because they are a trusted source.
