TL;DR
We are excited to share our campus wide rollout schedule. The Teams Calling rollout begins June 17th, with the majority of department migrations in July (July 8, 15, 22). We are continuing to conduct readiness checks with departments. Please be sure to check the Rollout Schedule for updates and watch for reminder emails. Training sessions (in-person and virtual) will be offered throughout summer and again in August/September. Resources, FAQs, and support are available to help you transition, and feedback is always welcome.
We Know There’s No Perfect Time
We understand there’s no perfect time for a change like this. Thank you for your flexibility and partnership as we move forward with the Teams Calling rollout. Our team is working to minimize disruption while ensuring the campus is prepared to focus on the start of the fall semester.
What you need to know about MS Teams Calling Preparations
Department Numbers
We have contacted all departments to confirm their main department number and who should have access to the number. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Individual Numbers
On May 22, we emailed individuals to validate extension assignments. If you haven’t done so already – please review that email. If we have an incorrect extension for you – please fill out the form linked in that email.
Changes to MS Teams
We are making some configuration changes to prepare for the switch. As a result, you may see a dial pad in the “Calls” section of MS Teams. You may also receive an email indicating an update to your Microsoft license. You can ignore these changes until the date of your department move to Teams Calling. Your desk phone will continue to function until your department’s switchover date.
Rollout Schedule
The Teams Calling campus rollout will begin June 17th with the transition of select offices, followed by department migrations in three waves (July 8, 15, and 22), with training and support available throughout. View the schedule here. Please note that this schedule may be updated slightly as we continue to prepare for the rollout. We will be sending out email reminders to campus as we progress through the transition.
Training Opportunities
Training and information sessions are available throughout the transition and after, including training sessions during each week of the rollout and in-person training by request. Sign up today.
Not around this summer?
No problem! Training will be available in August and September for faculty and 10-month employees to help get you up to speed or adjust. If you have forwarded your phone to voicemail over the summer – you will need to reconfigure this in Teams Calling. You may also want to configure an Out-of-Office message in Teams Calling. See our KB article about Voicemail Setup for more information.
Shared Spaces
We are currently working with offices on campus to ensure our inventory of shared workspaces is accurate and will deploy physical phones to these locations. This impacts many facilities and custodial offices. We will also provide physical phones in spaces where it is necessary to ensure the safety of our community.
Web Conferencing
The Cisco WebEx conferencing platform will remain available through the fall term to permit an intentional transition of the various ways in which WebEx is being used by members of the SUNY Cortland community.
