Microsoft Teams Calling – Updates from April

Body

TL;DR

  • Pilot and early adopters are actively using Teams Calling, with positive feedback overall
  • We’re refining processes and addressing a few known issues
  • Training sessions are now available — sign up today!

Current Status

Our pilot group has been actively using Teams Calling, and we’ve continued onboarding early adopters and additional departments. Most of the feedback so far has been very positive.

We are actively monitoring the experience of both pilot and early adopter groups while also working behind the scenes to streamline and automate our transition processes. This will help ensure a smooth and consistent rollout across campus.

What People Are Liking

We’ve heard from our early adopters that they are enjoying the flexibility of Teams Calling. Specifically, the personalized control over notification settings. These settings allow individuals to control whether they receive phone calls during meetings or during non-work hours. They have also appreciated the ability to use the Teams app on their cellphones to make calls from their work number, eliminating the need to share out their personal cell phone number. Read more about what options are available with Teams Calling in our Quick Start Guide.

What Needs Work

The headset have received mixed reviews. The project team is currently evaluating the need for additional options.

Reminder – if you have headphones that currently work with Teams Meetings – they should work with Teams Calling.
