Adding a Network Printer on Mac

  1. Open System Settings.

  1. In System Settings, select Printers & Scanners. This will take you to the screen below.

Printers and Scanners menu. Your printers are listed on the right side under "Printers". Below printers is the "Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax..." button

  1. Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax... to go to the Default Add Printer window (Window A) shown below.

  1. In the search bar (labeled 2) search for the printer you would like to add, and then click the printer in the list that appears.
  2. The Name field (labeled 3) will populate with the full name of the printer. Copy this name to your clipboard.
  3. Note the location listed in the Location field (labeled 4)
  4. Click the middle IP icon in the top toolbar. This will take you to the screen shown below.

  1. In the Address field (labeled 2), type gutenberg.cortland.edu if the printer is on Gutenberg, and bisheng.cortland.edu if the printer is on Bisheng. (caps do not matter)
  2. In the Protocol field (labeled 3), select Line Printer Daemon - LPD
  3. In the Queue and Name fields (labeled 4), paste the printer name copied in step 5. Delete GUTENBERG- or BISHENG-
  4. In the Location field (labeled  5) Enter the location noted in step 6.
  5. In the Use field (labeled 6) select Generic PostScript Printer

If these steps were completed successfully, you can now print to this printer.

Removing a Network Printer on Mac

  1. Open System Settings.

  1. In System Settings, select Printers & Scanners. This will take you to the screen below.

Printers and Scanners menu. Your printers are listed on the right side under "Printers". Below printers is the "Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax..." button

  1. Select the printer you wish to remove. This will take you to the screen shown below:

Manage Printer window. Remove Printer is found at the bottom of the window. To leave this window, select "Done" at the bottom right of the window.

  1. Click Remove Printer to finish removing this printer.
