Remediation of Library Materials

Memorial Library can work with our vendors to remediate or purchase materials that are needed as part of a student's accessibility accommodation. This service is only provided for currently enrolled students and current faculty and staff for course-related and academic research materials.  It will typically take a vendor 2-3 weeks to adapt their content, such as creating an audio-described or captioned version of a video or correcting a PDF in a database that is not able to be read by a screen reader.

Faculty who are checking their content for accessibility and identify library materials that need to be remediated can submit requests. Students should work with the Disability Resources Office who can make requests on their behalf.

Limitations:

  • There may be cases where items may not be able to be remediated or purchased, for example content in the Yuja collection cannot be adapted to audio-described versions and is not always able to be captioned.
  • Materials will be purchased in accordance with our collection development policy.  We do not purchase audiobooks.
  •  Ebooks should be requested through the existing  materials request
  • Book chapters should be requested via an ILL request.
