Teams Calling - Headset Audio Settings

To route Teams calls through your headset but still have the calls ring to your computer you will need to make sure that your computer is set to your external speakers and Teams is configured for your headset

Steps to Configure:

  1. Open Teams and click the three dots next to SUNY Cortland and your picture to access the Settings
    Settings button in Teams
  1. Go to the Devices tab
    Devices tab of Teams settings

  2. Set both your speaker and microphone to your headphones – these can be connected to your computer either wired or by Bluetooth
  3. Next, to be sure that your Teams calls ring on your computer scroll to the Secondary Ringer section of the Devices > Audio section and set the Secondary Ringer to your computer speakers

  4. Ensure that your external speakers are used for other computer functions by going to your computer Settings
    System Settings

  5. Navigate to the System tab and choose the Sound settings and open them
    System Sound Settings

  6. In the System > Sound settings select external speakers for Output so that all sounds aside from Teams will go through the computer. Select the external microphone for Input if you would like to be able to have an input device aside from your headphones, perhaps for dictation or other functions.
