Introducing eduroam

From: IR Notifications

Information Resources will be retiring Cortland-Wifi summer 2024 and replacing it with eduroam.

eduroam (education roaming) is a secure, world-wide roaming wireless service developed for and by the international research and education community. eduroam is a federated authentication service that allows participating institutions to provide access to their wireless networks to users from other eduroam participating institutions. Individuals use their home institution credentials when on a participating institution campus. For more information on Eduroam, please see the following website: https://eduroam.org/

What do I need to do?

You will not need to move any SUNY Cortland-owned devices as the project team will push out the necessary changes automatically on March 20th. You may need to reauthenticate your campus owned devices. Any active faculty, staff, or student may use the service on their personally owned devices. Many of you may have already found it and are actively connected to it on your personally owned devices. If you have not yet connected to eduroam, please plan to connect your personally owned device(s) by the end of the semester.

Please note: Students in the Residence Hall will continue to connect to CortlandResNet in the SUNY Cortland residence Halls

Once connected to eduroam – the device will connect automatically to eduroam at any participating institution location where it is offered. If you have trouble connecting to eduroam while away from SUNY Cortland’s campus, we recommend contacting that location's tech support first.

If you have any problems connecting to eduroam on your personally owned device while on the SUNY Cortland campus, please contact the Technology Help Center, at 607-753-2500 or thc@cortland.edu
