Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do I upload proof of vaccination?

Please log into myRedDragon, navigate to the COVID tab and access the vaccination portal.  For NYS residents, the portal will verify your information with the NYS Department of Health, for out-of-state and international students you will need to upload proof of vaccination.

Q:  I cannot access the vaccine portal?  I can not find the link?  I am getting a sign on error.

Please contact the Technology Help Center via this link

Q: I did not get vaccinated in New York State, but did get vaccinated.  What do I need to do to get verified?

A: In order to be verified by your Campus, you will need to log into myRedDrgon, and go to the COVID tab, then access the vaccination portal.  You will need to perform the manual verification by uploading an image of your vaccination record.  You will only be able to upload an image of your vaccination record after you attempt to automatically verify your vaccination status by submitting your First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Zip Code and Phone Number.

Q: I uploaded a copy of my Vaccination Record via the Manual Process.  Am I automatically verified?

A: No.  Each Campus has designated Campus Representatives who will look at the image to validate the information.  If they approve, the image will be deleted, and the Student’s Vaccination Record will be updated to show they are Manually Verified.  If it is not validated (either the card does not appear to be legible to read, or there is information missing), then the Campus Representative should reach out to the student to ask them to upload a new image.

Q: I received my final dose, but receive the screen notifying me that I could not be validated.  Why?

A: The SUNY Student Vaccination Pass validates your information against what is in the New York State Immunization Information Systems (NYSIIS) and the Citywide Immunization Registry (CIR) for a match.  If it has not been more than 15 days since your last vaccination dose, then your information will not be complete in the system and therefore will result in the application stating you could not be found.  You need to wait at least 15 days have passed from your last vaccine dose and then try again.

Q: It still says I am not verified.

There could be two issues.  One it could provide real-time verification, good news it will keep trying.  If it succeeds you will be emailed at the address you provided.  We have seen many reports of records that could not be verified due to parents and caregivers making appointments for their students and using the parent's or caregivers' contact information, try using their cell phone number.

Q: It has been more than 15 days since I received my final dose, but I receive the screen notifying me that I could not be validated.  Why?

A: The SUNY Student Vaccination Pass validates your information against what is in the New York State Immunization Information Systems (NYSIIS) and the Citywide Immunization Registry (CIR) for a match.  You need to make absolutely sure that you have entered your information (First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Phone Number, and Permanent Zip code) exactly as you provided on the Vaccination Forms at the time of your appointment!  If any of these are different from what you provided, or from what the vaccine provider inputted, at the time of vaccination, then there will be no match found.  To correct this, either re-enter your information to match, or you can opt to upload an image of your Vaccination Card and submit for manual verification.

Q: I registered in the Excelsior Pass site and have a NYS COVID-19 Vaccination care in my NYS Wallet application.  Do I still need to register via the SUNY Student Vaccination Pass?

A: The SUNY Student Vaccination Pass allows for your individual campus (along with any other Campuses that you attend for classes) to easily see you have received full vaccination.  You are requested to fill out your pass so that is available.

Q: I am registered.  Do I have to re-register every Semester?

A: No.  At present, each registration is good for one year from the final vaccination date recorded.  So, if you received your final vaccination on 5/1/2021 and have been verified, then you will not have to re-register until 5/1/2022.

Q: I continue to have issues not being able to register for validation.  How do I obtain assistance?

A: Please contact the Excelsior Pass Help Desk at (844) 699-7277 for assistance verifying whether the information you are providing in the SUNY Vaccination Pass is the same information that you provided at the time of your vaccine and for general inquiries/ support regarding data in the New York State Immunization Information Systems (NYSIIS) and the Citywide Immunization Registry (CIR) for a match.

Q: I am not receiving any email notifications for subsequent verification as noted on the initial response.

A: Please check your SPAM folder to ensure the Emails are not being flagged as such.  Also, check to make sure your Email address entered is correct. If it is not, please updated it on the form.

Q: I have not been able to get validated and the deadline for being able to register for classes is approaching.  Will I be prohibited from registering if this is not completed on time?

A: Please visit the COVID-19 Information page for the latest guidance.
