In order to send fax via email, you must first request permission to use the Fax Server.
Addressing Your Fax
1. To field - Enter "Fax Out"
2. Subject field
- Enter the fax number of the person receiving the fax.
- Always enter the country code (1 for the US) + the entire 10 digit number, even for local calls. However, when dialing off campus a '9' is not required.
It should look like this:1607753XXXX
- If you want to send the fax to the attention of a specific person you would include their name in the Subject line as well. If would be written like this:
Joseph White ((16077531234))
- To specify a subject for the fax
Add the subject after the fax number: Joseph White ((16077531234)) Order Confirmation
- Multiple destinations can be specified, they are separated by a semicolon
- Send to multiple fax numbers - with no subject and to no one's attention: 16077531234; 12123451456; 18008883456
- Send to multiple numbers to someone’s attention: Mary Smith ((16077531234)); Joseph White ((12123451456))
Cover page
If no cover page information is specified the fax will be sent with a default cover page which looks like this:
- To send a fax without a cover page specify CoverPage((None)) after the fax number: Joseph White ((16077531234));CoverPage((None))
The contents of the fax
Anything typed into the body of the email will be sent within the fax. If you have an email signature it will be sent but if you don’t want it in the fax it can just be deleted from the email.
